Xiaodong Zou won the Göran Gustafsson Prize
: As learned from Daneng on Apr.2 that Xiaodong just received the Göran
Gustafsson Prize for chemistry from the Swedish Academy of Sciences.
This is the biggest prize by them (4.6 million kronor per person), next
only to the Nobel Prize (9 million, but to be shared by 1, 2 or 3
persons). Of the prize sum 0.1 is for private use and 4.5 for research.
The prize was awarded by the king, and after the dinner party Xiaodong
and her husband Sven got a 5 minutes chat with the Swedish king and

“Beijing Workshop of Cryo-Electron
Microscopy in Structural Biology” will be held in
Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, July 14 - 16, 2008. The first
K. H. Kuo Summer School of Electron Microscopy and Crystallography, and
fifteen distinguished scientists in this area will present. This
school will cover Cryo-electron microscopy, Modern techniques of
